Junior DIY makes Fathers Day extra special

Ignore the SuperCheap Ads, what Dad really wants is a beautiful homemade gift or artwork from their little lifelong learner.

With Father’s Day coming up so soon, now is a great opportunity to get those little hands busy and help build their fine motor skills.

Father’s Day craft can also obviously be given to other father figures too, from Grandad, to the Godfather, Uncles and so much more, making sure no one is made to feel left out.

We’ve tracked down our top six favourite Father’s Day craft ideas that are happening at our childcare centres around Australia which you can also easily do at home:

  1. Finger painting

    1. Cut out the word DAD and stick lightly to a piece of paper.

    2. Let your little lifelong learner have some fun with colourful finger painting EVERYWHERE on the paper.

    3. When they are done, lift the word DAD for a fun piece of artwork.

  2. Paperweight

    1. Ask your little lifelong learner to collect some small pebbles.

    2. Create a dough using flour, salt and water.

    3. Press the small pebbles into it to spell ‘Dad Rocks’ and bake in the oven.

  3. Painted rocks

    1. Explore outside and ask your little lifelong learner to choose a rock - then decorate it with paint pens, glitter, feathers, or other elements.

  1. Handprint portrait art

    1. Using different coloured paints and your little lifelong learners fingers you can create a cute handprint portrait of Dad.

    2. Use ink pens for the finer details of his face.

  2. Best dad, hands down

    1. Draw an outline around your little lifelong learner’s hands on white paper.

    2. Cut out the handprints.

    3. They can then decorate the hands with pictures or words for the father figure in their life.

  3. Coffee mug

    1. Purchase a plain white mug.

    2. Help your little lifelong learner draw with paint pens to make their father figure a designer mug.
