Glenmore Park families dig deep to support others

The community spirit at Kids Academy Preschool is stronger than ever, as families support families.

Families and educators showed their charitable side this month by collecting essential items for their local Ronald McDonald House families. As regular supporters of the cause, the team at Kids Academy Preschool agreed that now, more than ever, families staying at the House deserved some relief.

Centre Manager, Lauren White said families and children were excited to be part of the initiative.

"We have proudly supported the organisation for a number of years, and this year was no different. The cause is one very close to our hearts”, explained Lauren.

The Ronald McDonald House Charity provides a home away from home for families that have a seriously ill child undergoing treatment. With 18 Houses and 19 Family Rooms across Australia, the charity provides what seriously ill children need most – their family.

Families at the centre generously donated essential toiletries, as well as toys and games for children. All the excitement of collecting items prompted conversations in-classroom with the children.

“We had group discussions with the children about why families are bringing in supplies, and where they were going. It prompted meaningful conversations about helping others and being part of our community”, said Lauren.

“Being part of our local community and helping others, is a significant part of our philosophy here at Kids Academy Preschool. We encourage our children to work together as a team and feel a sense of belonging to the world around us”, continued Lauren.
