Pillowcases for The Pyjama Foundation

This month Papilio Early Learning Meadowbank got creative for an important cause - The Pyjama Foundation. Children and educators learnt about what The Pyjama Foundation does to support other children, and they felt compelled to support!

The Pyjama Foundation helps children in foster care gain confidence, develop core life skills and learning skills. They aim to enhance the lives of Australian children in care through education.

The team got brainstorming on ways to raise funds....

Firstly, little lifelong learners channeled their inner Picasso and got creative designing some one-of-a-kind pillowcases, including a beautiful design inspired by Van Gogh's Starry Night.

In addition to pillowcases, children helped bake cupcakes too - creating a beautiful fundraising stall in the centre foyer. Families and the local community were invited to purchase their hand-made goods.

All the hard work paid off and their combined efforts managed to raise close to $600! Centre Manager, Amanda Brown said, “The educators here at Papilio Meadowbank have truly lived the team spirit and helped show our children the importance of giving back to the community”

“We are also so grateful to all our families who have donated to this wonderful cause. We have such a strong community spirit, and events like this really create a sense of belonging for us all,” continued Amanda.

Fundraising and charity events can help children develop respect for others, and instil in them the spirit of giving back and contributing to their communities.

Across all Lifelong Learning Centres, we encourage children to be actively involved in their community - whether through charity days, participating in pen pals programs or cleaning up their local park.
