School Readiness (3-5 yrs)
Our Preschool rooms have been designed to facilitate the learning required for your child to be a resilient and confident learner, prepared for the transition to Primary School. We know that all children are capable of realizing their full potential if they are in the right environment. That is why we use Project based learning, appropriate technology and enrichment programs to spark the best experiences. The Lifelong Learning: School Readiness Curriculum emphasizes enquiry-based projects and foundation academic skills to support children’s development of key 21st century school-readiness.
What Children Learn
Our two-year school readiness program for children aged 3-5 focuses on foundation learning in numeracy & math, literacy & writing and STEM, as well as dramatic play, art, and physical activity. Our school readiness program also integrates technology in an age-appropriate way to support foundational learning and researching for our Inquiry-Based Projects program, where children explore topics in detail over time, e.g., mini-beasts or the Ocean etc.
The school readiness program also includes some unique programs for children, primarily written just for our Affinity enrolled children, including our Big Thinkers STEM program, Aussie Wildlife Champions and in selected Centres, our Grandfriends intergenerational program and Positive Living Skills mental health & wellbeing program.
Where Children Learn
Our preschool/kindergarten classrooms and learning environments have been designed to support our curriculum programs and are structured to support children to explore the many possibilities that re available to them throughout the day. With both indoor and outdoor learning taking place, children can feel refreshed and comfortable as they develop their understanding of the world around them – and of their own potential. Our preschool/kindergarten rooms include Lifelong Learning Curriculum zones to encourage children to try new things every day. Interactive Learning hub, Numeracy & Math, Construction zone, Literacy & writing, Art Studio, Dramatic play, Book corner and STEM.
How Children Learn
Children learn best when they believe that they can. Our teachers and educators focus on supporting children to explore the curriculum confidently and make daily choices to build independence. Through a rich combination of play-based learning and intentional teaching, our programs allow children to explore their interests and ideas, develop those all-important 21st-century thinking skills, and contribute to learning and discovery within their classroom of friends.
